Bio

My name is Matthew John Romcevich. I was born and raised in Denver Colorado, and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder.

My parents bought me my first 35mm SLR when I was 18. That winter my friends and I took a road trip to Arizona. I fell in love with capturing images. With my father being a pilot I have been fortunate to travel to various countries and locations around the world. This has led me to infuse my love of photography and travel, to incorporate culture and nature into my true passion.

A friend asked me a very simple yet difficult question...

Why do you love photography?

I guess having a very scientific mind has limited me to express things to others. Photography is my way of showing people how I view the world. I find a calming sensation when I am looking through the lens. The camera allows me to shut everything out and focus on what I am doing. I find myself enjoying photography the most when I am active in the task at hand, whether that be hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, at a Tango show in Buenos Aires, or skiing the Colorado Rockies.

I don't think a perfect photograph is definable. I think it is simply an image that either expands your imagination, or invokes an emotional response. I take photographs because I like to share my view with others and hopefully show people a different perspective on the world they live in.
